The City
ELS/San Francisco is situated in the safe and affluent neighborhood of Pacific Heights in San Francisco. Known for its friendliness and spirit of individualism, the “City by the Bay” is a center of culture and finance with a distinct international flavor.

San Francisco is a compact city best explored by walking through its colorful ethnic neighborhoods, including Nob Hill, Union Square and Fisherman’s Wharf.
The city has twice been named the “World’s Top City” by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine.
The Center is located in the heart of San Francisco, with public transportation to Bay Area attractions and within walking distance of the city’s cultural heart.
Students may escape for a day to Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, Monterey Bay or Napa and Sonoma Valley’s famous wine country.
ELS students may take the English in Action Elective Class where they learn about the city through teacher escorted educational field trips.
