The City
ELS/Ashland is situated on the 70-hectare, park-like campus of Southern Oregon University (SOU). Located just five hours south of Portland, Oregon, six hours north of San Francisco and eight hours south of Seattle, Ashland has 265 days a year without rain or snow, making it one of the most temperate climates in the USA.

Ashland’s award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival draws 400,000 people per year to the city.
Southern Oregon University is surrounded by national forests, mountains and lakes and offers a wide range of outdoor activities. SOU was also named one of the top outdoor recreation schools by Outdoor magazine.
The University offers some three-year degree programs, allowing students to finish a year earlier than most American colleges and universities. As a state school, SOU also offers low cost tuition for international students.
SOU offers 100 programs including degrees in art, business administration, hotel, restaurant and resort management, computer science, nursing and a Masters in Management. The University also offers bachelor’s degrees in cooperation with nearby professional schools in programs including dental hygiene, medical technology and optometry.
